Gilas Pilipinas Boys punctuated a sweet sweep of the SEABA qualifiers with a dominant 87-64 victory over Indonesia on Sunday, July 21 at MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Andy Gemao flirted with a near triple-double, erupting for 29 points to go along with 12 rebounds and eight assists as the Filipinos formally punched their ticket to FIBA U18 Asia Cup in Jordan in September.
The second frame seemed to be Gilas Boys’ favorite quarter in the tournament as just like in their previous games against Malaysia and Thailand, the Filipinos broke the game wide open behind a 21-9 quarter scoring.
Gemao presided over that blistering run as Gilas erected a 50-31 lead at the break after only taking 29-22 advantage at the end of the opening quarter.
Wilhalm Cabonilas backstopped Gemao with 16 points and nine rebounds while John Earl Medina added 14 points built on four triples.
With the win, Gilas is joining fellow Asian powerhouses Japan, China and Iran, along with Australia and New Zealand in the continental showpiece.
Cliffton Wijaya had 12 points and six rebounds to pace the Indonesians, who just like Gilas, came in to the contest spotless after their rousing victories over Thailand and Malaysia.
