
Four men, including a minor were injured in a fire that hit a two-storey warehouse of an online merchandise shop along 752 Calero Street, Barangay 309, Quiapo, Manila on Sunday, July 21.
The Manila Police District (MPD) said victims, Kenneth Manonog, 23, and Claro Dulnuan, 34, experienced breathing difficulty, while Daryl Aquilando, 35, and the 17-year-old victim had lacerations on their fingers.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire was declared first alarm at 1:42 a.m. and second alarm at 2:56 a.m.
BFP said the warehouse contains insulated tumblers and some plastic products.
The fire reached the third alarm at 5:32 a.m.
Firefighters said the blaze immediately spread into the plastic products inside the warehouse.
It took them six hours before they were able to put the fire under control at 11:33 a.m.
Nearby roads, including the stretch of Recto Avenue from Nicanor Reyes Avenue, Quezon Boulevard and from Rizal Avenue to Evangelista Street, were temporarily closed to make way for the incoming firetrucks.
The fire was finally extinguished at 7:37 p.m.
Police said around P15 million worth of property was damaged in the 18-hour fire.
