He said a wallet containing cash was found in the market, prompting its market supervisor to inspect its contents. However, the P500 paper bills in the wallet were  determined to be fake.

According to the market supervisor, vendors have complained that fake money is being used to pay for goods.

Benitez referred this concern to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) which is now monitoring the proliferation of fake currency.

The BCPO urged the people victims to report such incidents to enable them to determine the presence of a syndicate circulating fake money.

Benitez urged people to be vigilant and cautious.
