Francis Casey Alcantara and Thai partner Maximus Jones exacted revenge against former tormentors Adil Kalyanpur and Vishnu Vardhan of India with a nerve-wracking, 2-6, 7-5, 10-8 victory to rule the men’s doubles in the sixth leg of M15 Nakhon Si Thammarat in Thailand on Saturday, July 20.

The Filipino-Thai duo overcame a sluggish start before displaying poise in the decider to not only claim the title but also erase the bitter taste of their final loss to the same Indian pair in the fourth leg of the $15,000 International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament earlier this month.
Memories of that painful defeat came flashing back on Alcantara and Jones after Kalyanpur and Vardhan seized the opening set in the dominant fashion. The Indians continued with their onslaught and even took a 5-4 lead in the second set.
Determined to put a different ending this time however, Alcantara and Jones showed great resolve and scored the next three points to force the decider.
It was the same scenario in the third set when the Filipino-Thai trailed 4-5 before taking care of the next three games to create the much needed separation they both managed to protect in the end.
It was the second straight ITF title for the Alcantara-Jones partnership after also winning it all in the fifth leg of M15 Nakhon Si Thammarat just a week ago. It was also Alcantara’s third ITF title this year and 25th overall.
On their way to the title, Alcantara and Jones asserted their mastery and defeated fifth leg finals foes Rishi Reddy and Dhakshineswar Suresh, 7-6,6-3 in the first round before giving Thai pair Kassidit Samrej and Pawit Sornlaksup the boot with a 6-4,5-7,10-6 win.
They arranged the finals rematch against Kalyanpur and Vardhan after a convincing 6-4,6-3 win over Indonesian duo of Nathan Barki and Christopher Rungkat in the semifinals.
