tvN's Korean drama, TVING YouTube channels hacked

The YouTube channels of Korean entertainment company CJ ENM’s tvN Drama and OTT platform TVING were hacked.

The two YouTube channels hacked and changed to cryptocurrency Ripple.

As a result, all existing tvN Drama and TVING videos have disappeared and have been replaced by Ripple’s cryptocurrency content.

In a notice on July 20, tvN confirmed the hacking of its YouTube channel.

“We would like to inform you that on Saturday, July 20, 2024, the tvN DRAMA YouTube channel suffered an issue where the channel name was changed due to an external hacking attack,” it said.

It added, “tvN is aware of the channel hacking and is working with YouTube to resolve the issue and will do its best to quickly restore the channel. Please be careful not to click on posts with suspicious videos or links, and be especially careful to avoid any damage.”

The number of subscribers to the tvN Drama YouTube channel totaled 7.11 million while TVING had 986,000.
