Landslide hits Kabankalan City barangay

BACOLOD CITY â€“ A landslide hit Sitio Overflow Phase 2, Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental this week.

Kabankalan Vice Mayor Miguel Zayco visited the area and posted photos on Facebook on Friday, July 19, showing a part of the area which eroded following heavy rains the past days.

Zayco said that a portion of a house collapsed but the owner was not at home. No injuries were reported.

He advised residents, particularly those situated in danger zones, to be cautious especially this rainy season.

This landslide happened two days after a portion of a road in Sitio Banga, Barangay Camingawan, leading to Barangay Carol-an, Kabankalan also collapsed due to heavy rain on Wednesday, July 17.

Maintenance was immediately conducted to make the road passable for motorists pending assessment.
