The Eastern Police District (EPD) announced that it is all set to provide security assistance for the third State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Marcos Jr. at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City on Monday, July 22.

“With full dedication to serve and protect, the Eastern Police District, under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Wilson C. Asueta, District Director, is all set to provide full security assistance for the 2024 State of the Nation Address (SONA) of His Excellency President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,” it said.
According to the EPD, a total of 1,010 of its personnel are ready to be augmented to ensure the safety and security of the occasion.
They also assured protection of the public against "unexpected mass mobilizations or any violent extremists that may take advantage of the situation to carry out nefarious acts."
The police added that Police Assistance Desks (PADs) will also be established in places of convergence to provide necessary public services.
To further ensure peace and order throughout the event, the EPD will also deploy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams, and K9 Units during the event.
Meanwhile, Asueta stated that all official leaves of personnel are not allowed except for emergency and sick leaves to ensure full force deployment during the event.
On July 19, the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) conducted a send-off ceremony to ensure the readiness and alertness of the personnel who will be deployed during the event, as well as to check and account for their operational capabilities at QCPD Headquarters at Camp Karingal, Quezon City.
“Team EPD, as part of the NCRPO, will remain steadfast in its mission and vision of providing safety and security for the peacefulness of the event,” the EPD said.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said that over 22,000 policemen will be deployed to secure the SONA, with thousands more as augmentation forces from various government agencies.
