Social media post leads to rescue of missing 5-year-old girl in Bacolod
BACOLOD CITY – A social media post seeking the assistance of netizens in finding a five-year-old girl led to her safe rescue hours here after she was reported missing in Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Monday afternoon, July 1.

Police Lt. Liza Fe Vingco, head of Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) in this city, said that authorities located the girl after she was seen by a concerned citizen near a convenience store in Barangay Villamonte on Monday night.
A video of the rescue operation was posted on social media, with more than 3,000 shares and 5,600 reactions as of posting time.
The video captured a group of persons who mobbed three individuals with the child. The suspects were taken to Police Station 4.
Vingco said the child was picked up by three individuals, an adult and two minors, in Talisay City early Monday.
However, Vingco did not elaborate further how they were able to convince the girl to go with them.
Vingco said the suspects brought the victim to this city for unknown reason.
The victim has been reunited with her parents and police are awaiting the result of her medical examination to determine if she was harmed.
Vingco said the 41-year-old suspect will be turned over to the Talisay City Police Station while the two minors aged 12 and 15 were placed under the custody of the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) pending further investigation and the filing of appropriate charges.
