A senior member of the Nacionalista Party (NP) in the House of Representatives believes that his fellow stalwart, Senator Imee Marcos, is part of the administration slate for the 2025 mid-term elections.

"I have no doubt kasama si presidential sister, si Senator Imee kasi she belongs to [NP]," Surigao del Norte 2nd district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers told House reporters in a press briefing Tuesday, July 2 in Quezon City.

(I have no doubt that presidential sister, Senator Imee Marcos is included in it since she belongs to NP.)

"So if we are firming up alliances with PFP (Partido Federal ng Pilipinas), I am pretty sure, she is an incumbent senator, kasama siya [sa] slate (She is included in the slate).

"My honest opinion is kasama siya (she is included)," underscored Barbers.

Despite being part of the presidential family, Senator Marcos hasn't necessarily echoed the policies of her younger brother, President Marcos. She has even criticized them, at times.

Senator Marcos is due for reelection next year.

Barbers said that another NP member who is a shoo-in for the eventual administration senatorial line-up is Las Piñas City lone district Rep. Camille Villar. The daughter of former Senate President Manny Villar, Rep. Villar is current one of eight deputy speakers in the House of Representatives.

Barbers said that the NP is looking to formalize its alliance with the President Marcos-chaired PFP within this month as part of the preparations for the 2025 mid-term elections.

NP is currently part of the expansive administration coalition in Congress that is led by the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party. House Speaker Martin Romualdez, cousin of President Marcos, sits as Lakas-CMD president.
