12 hurt in bus-van collision in Quezon

CANDELARIA, Quezon â€“ Twelve persons were injured in a collision between a van and a passenger bus on the bypass road here in Barangay Malabanban Sur, this town, on Monday afternoon, July 1.

Injured were van driver Oscar, 46, of Imus City, Cavite, and passengers Lorena Abasula, 46; Rain Ashley Abasula, 11, student; Sherwin Pagao, 19; student; Mario Robles, 22, single, student; Kimberly Robles, 27, single, PWD; Jayson Pagao, 44, messenger; Ryan Loreto, 35; Violeta Guzman, 35, data controller, Maria Christina Ramos, 28; Chris Arnel Tortoles, 11, student, and Ivan Arsejo, 16, student.

Police said the van suddenly occupied the opposite lane and rammed a Philtranco bus with license plates AIA-3057 driven by Churchell, 53, of Ormoc City, Leyte.

The victims were taken to the Candelaria District Hospital.

The bus driver was unhurt.

The victims and the bus company are open for an amicable settlement, police said.
