Its passengers, 14 from the city government of Zamboanga and two from the Zamboanga City Police Office, were rescued by the Zamboanga Second Mobile Force Company-Seaborne.
No fatalities were reported in the incident.
Investigation disclosed that they were on their way to the island-barangay of Tumalutab to conduct an assessment in relation to the Seal of Good Local Governance Program of the Department of Interior and Local Government when their boat sunk.
They were supposed to board a bigger boat but transferred to a smaller speedboat to be able to dock on shore due to low tide.
While on the way, passengers reportedly crowded one side of the boat, tilting and eventually capsizing the vessel.
Passengers reported minor injuries and loss of personal items. They were taken to the Zamboanga City Mobile Force headquarters and to a hospital for medical assessment.
