LIPA CITY, Batangas – A man who had just been released from jail was gunned down in Barangay Antipolo del Norte, this city, on Wednesday afternoon, July 17.
Police identified the victim as Marvin Gerez, 29.

Investigation said Gerez was riding a tricycle with his mother on their way home to Barangay Banay-banay in Padre Garcia, Batangas, when he was shot by a gunman on a motorcycle in front of a gas station.
The tricycle driver managed to escape with the victim’s mother seated at the back of the driver’s seat.
Closed-circuit television camera footage showed the motorcycle behind the tricycle and the suspect firing at the victim who was seated in the sidecar.
While the gunman continued shooting at the tricycle, a white van stopped and a man wearing a black hoodie jacket disembarked from the left passenger side and also shot the victim.
The victim died on the spot and the van and the motorcycle left.
Fifteen .45 caliber shells and an M16 Armalite rifle shell were recovered from the crime scene.
The victim was imprisoned last month and released a few days ago after his case was settled.
Police did not disclose the victim's case. Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
