BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development said they are readying resources to cushion the impact of a low-pressure area spotted east-northeast of Surigao del Norte.

The Disaster Response Management Division of the DSWD-Caraga led by Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga has conducted a preparedness meeting with the assistant regional directors and technical staff and action officers.
DSWD-13 Regional Information Office chief Marko Davey Reyes said they have P5 million in standby funds and more than P165 million worth of food and non-food items in regional and local government unit warehouses available when needed.
Reyes said 34,686 family food packs are on standby at DSWD-13 regional warehouses and 92,301 FFPs were prepositioned in LGU warehouses in Caraga.
Non-food items consisting 5,097 family kits, 6,535 sleeping kits, 117 hygiene kits, and 2,003 kitchen kits are ready for augmentation.
“With its strategically prepositioned goods, your agency, along with the different LGUs are prepared to respond to any emergencies,” Reyes said.
Reyes said they will continue to work with key stakeholders in its preparation for the LPA and are more than ready to address requests for technical assistance and provision of humanitarian cargo.
He said they continuously monitor the situation in coordination with LGUs and concerned government line agencies.
