Cop killed in road accident in Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY – A neophyte policeman was killed in a road accident in Barangay Lingayon, Alangalang, Leyte, on Wednesday, July 17.

Investigation said the 29-year-old victim, a resident of Capoocan, Leyte, was driving a scooter and overtook a vehicle ahead of him.

The scooter accidentally crashed due to the slippery road while overtaking and slid under the bumper of an oncoming pickup truck driven by a 48-year-old teacher traveling from Alangalang town proper to Santa Fe, Leyte.

The victim was taken to a hospital in Palo, Leyte where he was declared dead due to multiple injuries.

The driver of the pickup and his three passengers were unharmed.
