The northern lights have finally reached the Philippines’ MLBB esports scene.

Serbian esports organization Aurora Gaming has entered the MPL Philippines with no less than the dynamic duo of Johnmar “OhmyV33nus” Villaluna and Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario ushering in its first foray in Mobile Legends.

Aurora Gaming first entered esports through first person shooting game Counter Strike 2 and online multiplayer battle royale game Apex Legends in 2022 and has since then expanded to various esports titles, the latest in Warcraft III and Dota 2, where it acquired the Talon Esports roster in 2023.

Aurora Gaming is taking over the franchise slot of Minana EVOS which has been in MPL PH since Season 8 when the league shifted to a franchise model.

So far, OhmyV33nus and Wise are the only MLBB esports personalities affiliated with the team although it is widely expected that the team will formally name its entire roster in an event set on July 27 at the PARQAL Mall in Paranaque.

“The royal duo joins our company. Let us all welcome, Ohmyv33nus and Wise Gaming,” Aurora said in an announcement post

V33wise had recently parted ways with Blacklist International, ending a four-year run with the team that saw them win a total of three MPL Philippines titles and an M3 World Championship crown along with bridesmaid finishes in the M4 Worlds and in the 2021 and 2023 edition of the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup.

The entry of Aurora Gaming was also the latest development in the influx of international esports organizations making their way to the Philippine shore. Last season, Team Liquid acquired ECHO while Falcons partnered with APBren and Fnatic tying up with Onic Philippines.
