1,939 students receive free school supplies from barangay in Pasig

As the school year 2024-2025 is set to begin on July 29, Barangay San Antonio (BSA) in Pasig City distributed free school supplies to a total of 1,939 students, from preschool to college, in their barangay.
BSA Chairman Raymond Lising mentioned that each student received free school supplies such as backpacks with notebooks, pens, pencils, pad papers, and an umbrella.
“This initiative underscores our barangay’s commitment to fostering educational development and ensuring that students have the necessary resources to thrive academically,” he said.
He noted that the college students who received free school supplies are current scholars of the barangay, while the elementary students are enrolled at Oranbo Elementary School.
According to Lising, education is highly valued in their barangay, as they believe it lays the groundwork for a better future.
“By providing these essential tools—notebooks, pens, pencils, and more—we are investing in the potential of every child in our barangay,” he said.
“We understand that access to quality education is a fundamental right that every young mind deserves. It is through education that we nurture talents, foster creativity, and equip our youth with the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world,” he added.
This year, the BSA chairman reported a 20 percent increase in the number of students receiving free school supplies compared to the previous school year.
Lising mentioned that providing free school supplies to students alleviates the financial burden on their families, especially in these challenging times.
It is also a way for their barangay to motivate students to pursue their education with enthusiasm and determination.
Meanwhile, Lising urged all students in their barangay to study well and make the most of the opportunities they have, saying, "Your dedication to your studies today will pave the way for your success tomorrow.”
“Barangay San Antonio hopes to inspire academic excellence among students by providing these school materials, reinforcing their community's solid support throughout their educational journey,” Lising said.
