Capt. Dan Carlo Samoza, civil-military operations (CMO) officer of the Army 79th Infantry Battalion (IB), said they discovered the lair while responding to information on the alleged presence of NPA rebels in the area.
Samoza said that it was an ordinary lair that can accommodate about 10 to 15 persons.
Recovered were a magazine and 30 M16 bullets, two hammocks, two cellular phones, two backpacks, three SIM cards, three flash drives, a flashlight, five utility ropes, medical paraphernalia, personal belongings, and a subversive document with high intelligence value.
Samoza said that NPA rebels who occupied the hideout could be remnants of the Northern Negros Front (NNF) who are trying to mobilize in areas where they can still recover their mass base.
However, he refused to divulge these locations as focus military operation is ongoing.
