Shop premium denim pieces at this store in Mandaluyong City

Levi’s Philippines opens its first owned and operated store in Manila

When it comes to closet staples, it is hard not to think of denim pieces. Since the 17th century, people have been wearing it. It has witnessed wars, adopted many shades of blue, and has been a symbol of pop culture. As American Fabrics magazine published in 1969, “Denim is one of the world’s oldest fabrics, yet it remains eternally young.” One of the key players that keeps it relevant through the years is Levi’s.

From the iconic 501 jeans to the essential trucker jackets, Levi’s has championed the material through its timeless designs. This time, it is bringing its premium denim line closer to Filipinos as it opens its new store in Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong City.

What makes this store different apart from its other boutiques in the country is that it is the brand’s first owned and operated store. “In the past, the retail law in the Philippines was quite restrictive,” Charisse Chua, country manager of Levi Strauss Philippines, Inc., tells Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. “ But about two years ago, the retail law was changed or updated. We saw that opportunity to finally open our own store.”

To further highlight its legacy in producing quality denim pieces, the new store features the textile’s signature indigo color. Another highlight of the store is its display of the brand’s premium collections. First is Levi’s Vintage Clothing, a throwback collection inspired by classic pieces like the Shrink-to-Fit jeans. Another is the Made In Japan, a collection highlighting pieces sourced from the renowned Hiroshima-based Kaihara Denim Mill.

“In terms of visual merchandising, we aim to present it as a lifestyle brand. Levi's is not just a jeans brand,” Charisse stresses.

To celebrate the launch, Levi’s is rolling out a series of exclusive promotions to enhance the shopping experience for its customers. Until July 24, every purchase of P3,500 or more will give shoppers a chance to win exclusive merch from an interactive vending machine.
