Senate to work harder to maintain public trust, says Escudero
Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero on Wednesday, July 17 assured that the Senate will work harder to maintain the public’s trust in the institution.
Escudero made the assurance after a recent Pulse Asia survey showed him holding a 69 percent trust rating.
“On behalf of the Senate, we sincerely thank our countrymen for the trust they have placed in us and we will continue to work hard to maintain their trust,” Escudero said in Filipino.
“Surveys are dynamic and a high number in any survey is an inspiration to us and a low number is a lesson and a guide for us,” he stressed.
“But whether high or low, we will continue to work and perform our duty for the sake of the higher interest of the country and the people,” the Senate leader emphasized.
The survey, conducted from June 17 to 24, 2024, used face-to-face interviews with 2,400 adult respondents.
The same survey also showed President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s approval rating dropping slightly from 55 percent in March 2024 to 53 percent in June 2024.
Meanwhile, the same survey showed that Vice President Sara Duterte’s approval rating slightly increased by two percent from 67 percent in March to 69 percent in June.
Marcos’ trust rating, on the other hand, dropped from 57 percent to 52 percent in the same period, while Duterte’s trust rating remained unchanged at 71 percent.
