Army Fourth Infantry (Diamond) Division (ID) Public Affairs Office (PAO) chief Lt. Col. Francisco P. Garello said the 901st Infantry Brigade recovered these weapons – two AK-47 rifles, two M16 Armalite rifles, one M14 rifle, and bullets – after their location was revealed by three NPA surrenderers.

“These former rebels decided to abandon the NPA group due to severe hardships, lack of food and supplies, crisis and dwindling leadership, and fear,” said Garello who added that they handed over a 9mm Ingram machine pistol, Springfield rifle, and bullets.

The 901st Brigade said the recovery of these high-powered forearms indicated the significant downfall of the communist group in the Caraga region.

“We will remain focused on our campaign to pursue the remaining CTGs and sustain the gains in the previously cleared areas to prevent the CTG recovery efforts," the 901st Brigade said.
