Suspected gunrunner nabbed in Batangas

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Police nabbed a suspected gunrunner in Tanauan City, Batangas on July 14.

Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas, Police Regional office 4-A director, identified the suspect as Jad, 34.

Seized from Jad were 13 assorted firearms, ammunition, and paraphernalia.

Jad was arrested through a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms issued by a court in Tanauan City.

“This operation underscores our firm commitment to eradicating illegal firearms in our communities. The dedication and professionalism shown by our officers in Batangas is truly commendable,” said Lucas.

Meanwhile, a woman was shot dead in Barangay Balatbat, Lobo, Batangas on Monday, July 15.

Police said the victim Lorna was on his way home with her mother onboard a tricycle when gunmen wearing black bonnets, black long sleeves, and black pants riding a motorcycle appeared and shot her in the nape.

Lorna was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead. The suspects fled and are now the subject of a manhunt.
