Poe welcomes LTFRB's move to allow operation of unconsolidated jeeps, UVs

Senator Grace Poe welcomed the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board's (LTFRB) directive to allow unconsolidated jeepneys and UV express units to operate in some routes.
"It's a win-win situation: ensuring adequate transportation for commuters on one hand, and providing drivers and operators with livelihood on the other," Poe said in a statement.
This is under LTFRB’s Board Resolution No. 53 Series of 2024 in a bid to ensure the supply of public transportation in the low number of authorized units (NAU) routes.
It stated that they would be "allowed to operate on their existing routes without the need for filing an Application for Consolidation but subject to the eventual approval of the LPIRP and RRP".
Poe urged LTFRB to put simple guidelines in place to ease the drivers' reentry on the roads.
"We will continue to push for a stable, just, and humane policy of PUV modernization that will give productive income to the sector, help clean the environment, and alleviate the traffic situation," she added.
