Bell sizzles as Crossovers sweep Foxies for first win

The win was a boost for the Crossovers, who are missing the services of key players Eya Laure and Jen Nierva due to national team duties.

“Thankful kami sa panalo kasi mostly lumabas yung tini-train namin,” said Chery Tiggo coach Kungfu Reyes.

“We worked as one. All we need to do is bring the ‘bell’,” he quipped, referring to returning American import Katherine Bell.

Bell, who last played in the league four years ago, made her presence felt by pumping in 22 attacks to finish with 23 points as the Crossovers joined the Nxled Chameleons to the early winning column.

“It was great to be back here,” said the 6-foot-2 wing spiker. “It’s been four years. Everyone’s game has changed and developed over the years, so it’s all about just coming in, being humble and just doing your best for the team.”

Also making an early impact was rookie libero Karen Verdeflor, whom the team selected during the inaugural Draft last week.

“She’s absolutely stunning,” Bell said of Verdeflor. “She’s such a dog. I’ve enjoyed playing with her the last few days and I can’t wait to see her develop for sure.”

“Steady yung bata, that’s why dun sa draft, napaka-swerte namin na umabot kami sa kanya,” added Reyes. “Yung stability ng ground defense at first ball... mas naging madali offense namin and counterattack.”

Caitlin Viray scored 13 points while import Yeny Murillo chipped in 10 for Farm Fresh, who struggled with its plays and gave up 27 points on errors.
