“A total of 228 citation tickets, with a total of P73,750 in penalties, were also collected for violations of some national laws and local ordinances during the successful implementation of traffic laws in the city of Surigao and different municipalities across the province,” said Surigao del Norte police chief Police Col.  Laudemer M. Laude.

Violators were asked to pay fines in the treasurer's office of their localities.

Laude vowed to continue and intensify the enforcement of Republic Act No. 4136, the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, to ensure road safety and security in the province.

"The Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office, along with the different municipal police stations and city police office, has launched a preventive initiative aimed at reducing traffic accidents, curbing street crimes, and targeting unregistered or ‘colorum’ vehicles, particularly motorbikes that could be used for unlawful activities by criminal elements,” Laude said.

“Motorists are required to present their driver's license, the Official Receipt (OR) and Certificate of Registration (CR) of their vehicles, along with any other pertinent documents, during these checkpoints."
