Western Visayas logs 4.9% inflation rate in June

ILOILO CITY – The inflation rate in Western Visayas region jumped to 4.9 percent last June.

A report released by the Philippine Statistics Authority-6 said the inflation rate increased by 0.6 percent from 4.3 percent in May.

The agency attributed the increase to higher growth in the index of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels.

Nida Amolar, PSA-6 officer-in-charge and chief statistical specialist, said that the provinces of Aklan and Guimaras have the highest inflation rate in June with 6.2 percent.

The regional capital Iloilo City has the lowest inflation rate for June with 2.2 percent.

The PSA-6 said the inflation rate in Bacolod City was 6.1 percent, 5.8 percent in Antique province, five percent in Iloilo province, 4.7 percent in Capiz province, and 4.5 percent in Negros Occidental province.
