QC gov't ready for PBBM’s SONA - Mayor Belmonte

The Quezon City government on Monday, July 15, said that it is finalizing the security and safety measures for the upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Marcos on July 22.

Mayor Joy Belmonte said more than 6,500 police personnel will be deployed around the city to ensure safety and orderliness, including personnel from the Department of Public Order and Safety, Task Force Disiplina, and barangays.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office will be on standby to respond to emergencies with the Emergency Medical Services, Search and Rescue teams, and Barangay Health Emergency Response Team.

Belmonte urged those who plan to hold rallies and demonstrations to coordinate with the Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) to secure their permits.

“Quezon City remains a bastion of democracy and free speech as we uphold every Filipino’s right to peacefully assemble. However, all rallyists are encouraged to police their ranks and mandated to follow the law,” she said.

The local government will deploy QCity buses and barangay service vehicles that will provide free rides to the public.
