P1.2-M smuggled cigarettes seized in Tawi-Tawi

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Smuggled cigarettes valued at P1.2 million were seized in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi on Saturday, July 13.

SMUGGLED cigarettes worth P1.2-million were seized in Tawi-Tawi province.  (PNP)

Police received information about a motorized boat or jungkong suspected of transporting smuggled cigarettes.

The vessel reportedly unloaded the contraband in a warehouse in Barangay Lamion.

Authorities swooped down on the warehouse and confiscated the illegal items. The warehouse owner and his laborers were not present when the operation was conducted.

The contraband was brought to the Bureau of Customs for proper documentation.
