Meet the Bicolana who will sing the national anthem during Marcos' 3rd SONA

A powerhouse vocalist from Bicol is penciled to sing the Philippine national anthem during President Marcos' third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 22.
Reports reaching the House of Representatives on Monday, July 15 bared that Blessie Mae Abagat will perform the Lupang Hinirang.
The national anthem singer is always a high profile spot in the annual SONA, which is held at Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City. Batasang Pambansa is the home of the House of Representatives.
Abagat is coming off a dominant run in the 27th World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Long Beach California in the United States (US). She was the 2024 division champion in he vocal pop category.
She also took home gold medals in the categories of vocal gospel, vocal contemporary, vocal pop, and vocal world.

In a Facebook post last July 7 that celebrated her victory, Abagat wrote: "Representing the Philippines and the Bicol Region in WCOPA has been an incredible honor. I cannot believe we made it this far!"
She says that she is "a proud Filipino 🇵🇠and Bicolana 🌶ï¸".
Over 3,000 delegates from 62 countries participated in the WCOPA.
