Malpas, a student of St. Therese Educational Foundation of Tacloban Inc. here, won the 100m breaststroke for elementary boys.

He also won gold in the 4x50 medley relay, 50m backstroke, and 50m breaststroke.

His achievement helped the Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) achieve a historic performance in the multi-sport event.

“The EVRAA has significantly climbed the ranks surpassing its record in the past Palarong Pambansa competitions…This achievement marks the highest standing for EVRAA in the past decade.”

In 2023, EVRAA was ranked 14th out of 17 delegations. As of July 15, the EVRAA athletes have already won a total of 46 medals, including 17 gold, 14 silver, and 16 bronze medals, putting it in 7th place so far.

“His outstanding performance exemplifies the talent and determination of our athletes and serves as an inspiration to the entire EVRAA delegation,” the DepEd said.
