1-Pacman Party-list Rep. Mikee Romero took to Facebook on Sunday, July 14 to share his great sadness after hearing about the passing of veteran journalist and sports personality Chino Trinidad.

"This is painful!" Romero, chairman of the House Committee on Poverty Alleviation, wrote in an emotional post.

"Our KUME and my GREAT Friend and Brother. The longtime Philippine Basketball League Commissioner. A true Gem for Philippine sports," he said of Trinidad.

Romero gave high praise to Trinidad for plying his trade until the very end.

"[He] Passed away last night (Saturday) with his boots on, while on his way to interview 'Efren Bata Reyes'. That says it all! True journalist through and through," the party-list congressman and avid sports fan said.

"Your memories will live on my friend. In our hearts forever, Kume Manolo Chino Trinidad 🇵🇭👏🙏" added Romero as he bid farewell to his friend.

Trinidad's family confirmed his passing on Sunday.
