The Philippine triathlon team bagged another gold medal after its mixed relay team reigned supreme in the 2024 Asia Triathlon Junior Cup Kampar in Malaysia on Sunday, July 14.

The team of Kira Ellis, Matthew Hermosa, Samantha Corpuz and Dayshaun Ramos clocked 1 hour, 27 minutes and 53 seconds for the gold medal to beat 14 other Asian teams that include Hong Kong and South Korea.

Hong Kong bets Nok Hei Wong, Petra Stamenovic, Lok Shi Lam and Wan Tung Wong clinched the silver in 1:29:32, while South Koreans Seo Sunmin, Lee Sojung, Gwon Yongjin and Seo Gahyeon took home the bronze in 1:30:43.

It was the second gold medal for Team PH after Ellis topped the Junior Women division on saturday, July 13, ahead of eventual silver and bronze medalists Park Seoeun of South Korea and Diana Biktimirova of Uzbekistan. Corpuz, meanwhile, came in fourth.

Eleora Avanzado, meanwhile, came close to a podium finish after settling for fourth place in the U15 Women.

She timed 37 minutes and 54 seconds, just 12 ticks slower than silver medalist Wong Lok Tung of Hong Kong (37:42) and seven seconds behind Alexandra Sharayeva of Kazakhstan (37:47). Okuma Yuhiko of Japan snared the gold with 36:53.

Cristy Perez, for her part, landed fifth with 38:34.

In the U15 Men, Peter Sancho Del Rosario finished sixth in 33:16 behind the 1-2 finish of Kazakhstan’s Ramazn Ainegov (32:06) and Artyom Bedrin (32:24). South Korea’s Kang Woohyen went home with the bronze with 32:58.
