Dubbed the “OPM Pop Chanteuse" in the music scene, award-winning singer Kuh Ledesma has shown no slowing down when it comes to doing what she loves, which is performing.

Kuh Ledesma will debut her concert, "Kuh Ledesma Sings her ABC," at the Winford Hotel and Casino on Aug. 3. According to her, the concert will bring nostalgia as she looks back on her tracks.

"Just for this particular show, ABC means my chosen singers, composers kasi usually 1 to 2-and-a-half hours 'yung shows. So ABC pa lang, which is the basic compositions and songs from other singers that we're given to me to record," she said.

In addition to singing songs by other composers, Kuh also shared that she will be singing songs by Adele and Barbara Streisand.

"I will be singing songs from Adele, and I also will be singing songs from Azarcon who composed a lot of my songs, and for B naman we're doing Barbara Streisand songs. I have not sung a lot of Barbara Streisand songs recently, but since this is my basic song choice for my concert, because they are the artists that I looked up to, and for C naman is Canseco, Cayabyab basta secret na yung iba," Kuh shared.

I have not sung a lot of Barbara Streisand songs recently, but since this is my basic song choice for my concert because they are the artists that I looked up to, and for C it is Canseco, Cayabyab as long as the others are secret)

Up-and-coming singers Nathan Randal and David Young will join Kuh at the concert.

"They are talented singers, and It's my honor for them to be part of this concert because I'm glad that they did not discriminate according to my age, and these guys are good and talented kids," Kuh said. 

Nathan, who's performed at Kuh's concert several times, still gets the chills every time he sees Kuh perform live.

"It's an absolute honor to be singing with Ms. Kuh Ledesma kasi parang, this is our fifth show together. I still get the chill every time I see her perform on stage," Nathan said.

Humble beginnings

As a "diva" with a long music career, Kuh reminisced about memorable performances, including one at the cockpit arena.

"I once sang in sabungan, when we were 'Music and Magic.' I believe going solo na ako that time," she said.

Although Kuh did not reveal why they performed in a cockpit arena, she shared that they also performed at Eduardo's, a popular events place in the 1980s.

"We've also sang in Eduardo's. Of course, sa umipisa sabi namin, ''Uy Eduardo's' kasi it would bring in the people. Pero nung pinakita sa manager namin yung offer nila, sabi niya, 'Let me think about it". Ang laki nung offer so sayang naman and besides the crowd was wonderful, we brought our music to them," Kuh said.

(We've also sung in Eduardo's. Of course, in the beginning, we said, 'Hey Eduardo's' because it would bring in the people, but when they showed their offer to our manager, he said, "Let me think about it." We eventually said yes because the offer was big and we didn't want to miss it and besides the crowd was beautiful, we brought our music to them)

A dream collaboration

VCSD Entertainment Production, under the expert direction of Vergel Calindas Sto Domingo, will produce and present the upcoming concert.

Direk Vergel expressed that directing the concert was a dream come true for him.

"Big fan po talaga ako ng mga kanta ni Ms. Kuh, dream come true kasi pinayagan niya ako kasi hindi naman ako ganun kalaki na director but at the same time hindi ako nahirapan katrabaho ang mga professional kaya the collaboration between us and Ms. Kuh are okay," Direk Vergel said.

(I'm really a big fan of Ms. Kuh's song, and it's a dream come true because he allowed me to direct her concert. Although I'm not a famous director at the same time, I didn't have any hard time working with the professionals so the collaboration between us and Ms. Kuh is okay) 

Together with his team, Kuh is dedicated to delivering a world-class production that beautifully showcases the timeless appeal of her music. 

The "Kuh Ledesma Sings her A B C" concert promises to keep its audience in suspense about what songs will be featured during the performance. This is something the audience can look forward to at the concert.
