Davao City fire victims receive aid from Rep. Duterte

DAVAO CITY – More than 200 families displaced by a fire here on Saturday, July 13, received immediate assistance from Davao City Rep. first district Rep. Paolo Duterte.

The lawmaker’s son, Rigo, led the distribution of food packs, bottled waters, and hot porridge to 545 individuals in Purok 2, Barangay 2-A. They will receive more help.

Rep. Duterte’s office has been providing immediate assistance and food packs to his constituents and other residents here affected by man-made and natural calamities.

The Bureau of Fire Protection-Davao City Fire District said two cousins died, one was injured, and 203 families lost their homes in the fire that razed 150 houses.

Arson investigators identified the fatalities as  Rjay Lopez, 11, and Roy Reteza, 14. Their bodies were found inside the restroom of their house during mopping-up operations.

The fire started at around 8:25 p.m. and was put under control at around 11 p.m. Damage to property was estimated at P2.250 million.
