Finnegan and Malabuyo came from the United States where they are based, while Catantan flew from Italy where she spent a couple of weeks training and sparring with elite Italian fencers.

Most members of the PH team have been in a training facility in Metz since last month as part of their final buildup for the Games scheduled to start on July 26.

Boxers Eumir Marcial, Carlo Paalam and Hergie Bacyadan, meanwhile, are in a facility in Germany where they have been training with other nations bound for the Olympics.

Rower Joanie Delgaco, for her part, is also in Germany ahead of her scheduled training program from July 17 to 20.

The training at the Germany Rowing Club will serve as Delgaco’s last tune-up before they go straight to the Athlete’s Village on July 22.

Last week, Delgaco competed in a race in Luxembourg where she finished first in women’s singles sculls and eighth overall among 40 participants in the 7th Waistrooss Head of River Regatta -- a five-kilometer handicap regatta in Schwebsange.
