'Habagat' to persist over some parts of the country

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, July 13, announced that the southwest monsoon, or "habagat," may prevail over the western parts of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

"Kung saan ngayong araw ay magdadala pa rin ito ng mga malalakas na pag ulan, lalong-lalo na yan dito sa may kanlurang bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao (Today, it will bring heavy rains, especially in the western parts of Visayas and Mindanao)," PAGASA Weather Specialist Grace Castañeda in the weather report.

Thus, PAGASA reminded the public to take precautions for the possibility of flooding and landslides in these areas.

Meanwhile, despite not monitoring any low pressure areas, the state weather bureau is observing cloud clusters located in the western part of Palawan, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), as well as in the eastern part of Mindanao.

"We are continuously monitoring these clouds for any potential circulation that could develop into a low-pressure area in the coming days," Castañeda said.

In Metro Manila, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may be experienced due to the southwest monsoon.

This weather condition could bring possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, PAGASA said.
