TACLOBAN CITY – A former Person Deprived of Liberty (PDL) was killed in Ormoc City, Leyte on Friday, July 12.
Police identified the victim as Rosendo Gomez, 52, a resident of Barangay Naungan, Ormoc.

The victim was driving a gray Sports Utility Vehicle on his way home from Albuera, Leyte when unidentified suspects on board a motorcycle and black SUV shot him in front of the Linao Elementary School in Purok 3, Barangay Linao.
Gomez sped off but the suspects chased and continued shooting and he and his vehicle was hit multiple times.
Upon reaching Purok 3 in Barangay Naungan, the victim made a turn and alighted from his vehicle after nearly hitting a fence. The motorcycle-riding gunmen disembarked and shot the victim.
The suspects fled and police recovered at least 25 spent shells from a .45 caliber pistol and 5.56 bullets in the crime scene.
Gomez was released from jail after the court approved his plea-bargaining agreement for his illegal drugs case.
