Philippine Red Cross to organize large-scale CPR demonstration

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Friday, July 12, announced its plan to conduct a mass cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) event during the National CPR Day on July 17.

PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon emphasized that this initiative supports the organization's goal to have at least one first aider in every household and workplace.
"We have two million volunteers nationwide, but no first responder can respond as quickly as a neighbor, a family member, or a co-worker," Gordon said.
"When that person knows first aid, further injuries and loss of lives can be averted,” he added.
The humanitarian organization emphasized that this initiative aims to promote the importance of CPR in saving lives and reinforced its call for more first aiders.
It was announced that the simultaneous CPR demonstration will be accessible via the PRC’s Facebook page and Zoom, allowing participants to learn how to perform CPR.
"They will also discover how to create an improvised CPR manikin from recyclable materials," it said.
Meanwhile, in addition to the CPR demonstration and awareness campaign, the PRC is planning to organize more educational and engaging activities both online and, on the ground, in collaboration with its 102 chapters nationwide.
These efforts are aligned with the implementation of Republic Act (RA) No. 10871, a law aimed at equipping citizens with the essential knowledge and skills to respond effectively to various health emergencies.
