Hours after actress Maris Racal announced her separation from musician Rico Blanco, netizens urged the Rivermaya vocalist to share his version of their breakup.

In the comment section of Instagram, fans asked Rico why he and Maris had broken up. Several fans said they were shocked by Maris's revelation. Some comments:

"Break na po kayo?"

"Rico bat po kayo nag hiwalay ni Maris?"

"Sa Isang kisap mata wala na ang Maris Rico"

"O kay bilis naman mag laho ng pag-ibig mo sinta."

"Three years with Maris is like Kisapmata. Why oh why?"

On July 12, Maris confirmed her breakup with Rico, 51, after five years of being together.

"Rico and I are over. I'm so scared, I'm really scared. Ang dami kasing tanong about him and I am tired of smiling and nodding. I'm so scared because If I announce it, it's real," said Maris during the ABS-CBN Star Magic Spotlight event on Friday.

Maris, 26, said the breakup happened a few weeks ago.

"Rico and I, our universe is so beautiful. It was full of love, laughter and music and everything, spontaneity everything. Sa five years namin together, we were always on the same page. Always on the same page. I don't know what happened to me. 

Maybe I turned to the next page, saw new perspective sa life. I had a vision of who I want to become, how I want to evolve. So curious about the world, and the truth is I am going through changes and alam naman natin na changes either good or bad and what I hate about change is it's inevitable.

"Hindi mo siya matatakasan and wala ka nang ibang gagawin kung 'di to face it and confront it," Maris said.

Maris did not reveal the cause of the split, but she said it was a "polite" breakup.

"It was a very difficult talk because I love him so much. I love him and he loves me din, but I have so many questions about my life and how will I go on sa buhay with him. I have so many questions about me, my sense of self that was so difficult. But it was very polite separation," she also said.
