Construction of new DOH, NBI-Ilocos buildings underway

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The construction of two new government buildings in this city has started.

Sen. Imee Marcos led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the five-story Department of Health (DOH)-Regional Office 1 multi-purpose building and the headquarters of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Region 1 on Thursday, July 11.

The DOH building has a P136-million budget and is expected to be completed in 2025.

The ground floor will be the main lobby and parking area, the second floor will be the regional director's office, conference room and offices on the third floor, and offices on the fourth and fifth floors.

This building is expected to improve the agency’s services.

The NBI office consists of six floors with an P80-million budget and floor area of about 1,363.54-square meters.

This building will have a parking area with Persons with Disabilities elevator, clearance area, digital forensics lab, investigative office, medico-legal office, intel services office, and agent's quarters.

The event was also attended by La Union Gov. Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David, La Union Vice Gov. Mario Ortega, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-1 Regional Director Ronnel M. Tan, and DOH-1 Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco.

Funding came from the Marcos administration’s Build Better More program and the projects are administered by the DPWH.
