Sexagenarian nabbed for rape-slay of 9-year-old girl

ZAMBOANGA CITY â€“ Police arrested a 65-year-old former ex-convict for allegedly killing and raping a nine-year-old girl in Lamitan City, Basilan on Tuesday, July 9.

Investigation said the victim reportedly asked permission from her mother to pick fruits outside their house.

She failed to come home, prompting her family to look for her.

Her body was found in a bushy area at dawn on Wednesday, July 10, with her pants tied around her neck.

The suspect was nabbed after he was seen by witnesses walking with the girl the night before her body was found. The suspect served time for murder.
