Motorcycle rider, passenger die in Recto road mishap

A motorcycle rider and his passenger died after hitting a cemented pole of an establishment along Recto Avenue in Manila on Wednesday, July 10.
The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the motorcycle rider as Abdul Tanggo and his passengeras Ijay Ayoc who was his workmate.
According to the police report, the motorcycle being driven by Tanggo was cruising along the eastbound portion of Recto Avenue when the motorcycle's front end suddenly hit the side of a concrete pole along Matapang Street.
Barangay 392 Ex-O Fernando Teves said the rider and his workmate came from a restaurant.
In a closed circuit television (CCTV) footage, the victim's motorcycle was seen overtaking another motorcycle and allegedly speeding down Recto Avenue before it hit the pole.
Due to the force of the impact, the motorcycle rider and his passenger rider were thrown onto the cemented sidewalk.
The victims sustained severe injuries that led to their instantaneous death.
Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) personnel said the victims died on the spot.
