The Manila Central University has launched the Cybersecurity Posture Assessment Lab (CPAL).
CPAL is designed to strengthen an organization’s cybersecurity. This includes tools and assessments from partnered cybersecurity firms, customized solutions, training, research, policy support, incident management, monitoring, public outreach, and, of course, alignment with national initiatives. That last bit is crucial. CPAL has received endorsements from multiple government agencies, such as the DICT, BSP, the Insurance Commission, and the National Privacy Commission.
The MCU has partnered with Blackfire, a cybersecurity assessment provider. Together they will be aiming to establish and promote a robust, secure, and a resilient digital environment in the country. CPAL also aims to validate cybersecurity strength, mitigate risks, ensure compliance, enhance incident response, and build trust in organizations.
“The lab represents a significant advancement in our collective efforts to safeguard critical infrastructure and information,” said MCU Executive Vice President Chynna Roxanne R. Gonzalez “In today’s digital age, the need for robust security measures is more critical than ever. By providing resources and education, we are empowering the next generation of cybersecurity experts and ensuring that our nation’s critical infrastructure is resilient against cyber threats.”
CPAL will also offer certification programs for professionals for continuous learning and development opportunities.
Students can use the lab for immersive education experiences. In line with this, the MCU will include a cybersecurity program to its Bachelor of Science and Information Technology to begin developing the next generation of the country’s cybersecurity landscape.
