Sotto mentioned that 105 student athletes out of 547 are from Pasig City. They are representing the National Capital Region (NCR) in this year's Palarong Pambansa organized by the Department of Education (DepEd).

“Good luck to our students! We are proud of you!" Sotto stated.

“Laban, kabataang Pasigueño!” the city government added.

In addition to the Palarong Pambansa, the city also has representatives to the National Festival of Talents (NFOT), the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC), and the National Learners Convergence.

The city government said that a total of 250 students, coaches, trainers, and support personnel from the Schools Division Office of Pasig and the city government are currently in Cebu from July 6 to July 16 for the four national events.

It said that the competitions would officially begin on Thursday, July 11, following the opening ceremonies and technical meetings held in the past few days.

Before heading to Cebu, a send-off or pep rally was held at the Pasig Elementary School Gymnasium on July 3.

The mayor and other local government officials attended the program to show support for the students, coaches, and trainers representing the city in the NCR delegation.

During the event, officials from the city and school division offices reminded the student athletes of the importance of sportsmanship and the spirit of excellence.

They also expressed their extreme pride in the students and acknowledged the dedication they had shown in their training to represent not only the city but the entire region.

Meanwhile, officials from the Schools Division Office of Pasig thanked the local government for its support not only in academics but also in extracurricular activities, which are also crucial for the holistic growth of the youth of Pasig.
