Landslide leaves 4 dead, 2 wounded in Antipolo, Rizal

Four individuals died and two others were wounded in a landslide that hit Barangay Dela Paz, Antipolo, Rizal on Wednesday, July 10.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection-Antipolo (BFP-Antipolo), the incident occurred at around 4:40 p.m. at a construction site in Fairmont Hills Subdivision. They said the soil erosion was caused by the construction excavation.

"The team tirelessly worked hand-in-hand and managed to rescue two people alive and was able to retrieve four casualties trapped under the soil and mud. The entire operation only lasted for two hours," the rescuers said.

The Antipolo City Police took over the investigation of the incident.

Authorities have yet to disclose the names of the victims.

"This station would like to express our deepest sympathies to the bereaved families of the victims," the BFP said.
