According to the Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO), the suspect was being treated by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) when he escaped and hijacked a parked police car of the Morong (Philippine National Police) PNP.

A vehicular chase ensued between the police and the suspect who then crashed onto a post and hit people near it.

Authorities have yet to disclose the identities of the suspect and the victims.

Meanwhile, Rizal PPO provincial director PCol. Felipe Maraggun extended the force's condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and those wounded.

He also urged the public to refrain from speculating and spreading false information about the incident in social media.

“Nanawagan ako sa publiko ng iwasan natin maglabas ng maling impormasyon, ang mga videos po na kumakalat sa social media ay wala pong katotohan. Wala pong naganap na jail break at wala pong mga presong nakatakas. Nandito ang Rizal PNP, bukas po ang aming pintuan para sagutin ang inyong mga katanungan hinggil sa bagay na ito. Lagi po namin hangad ang kaligtasan ng bawat isa (I am appealing to the public to please refrain from spreading wrong information on social media. The videos being spread on social media is not true. There was no jail break that occurred and no prisoner had escaped. The Rizal PNP is here and we are ready to answer your questions and concerns regarding this matter. The safety and security of everyone is always our topmost priority)," Maraggun said.
