BACOLOD CITY – Three persons, including two teenage construction workers, drowned in Negros Occidental on Wednesday, July 10.

Andrew Cordero of Talisay City and Yantor Yanson of Bacolod City, both 19-years-old, drowned on a river in Sitio Dumpsite, Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City.
Police Lt. Col. Anthony Grande, Himamaylan police chief, said the victims and their two companions swam on the river at around 7:30 a.m.
Cordero went swimming first but after a while, he was asking for help as he was drowning.
Yanson dived to rescue him but he was swept away by strong river current.
They drowned and their bodies were retrieved three hours later.
A 24-year-old laborer drowned on a river in Sitio Napiluan, Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla.
Police said victim was seen in a drinking session in a sari-sari or community convenience store on Tuesday night, July 9.
He was accompanied by his companion to his house to borrow a lighter with flashlight before he went home that night.
However, the following day, the victim was found lifeless on a riverbank.
