Sugarcane field yields skeletal remains

BACOLOD CITY – Skeletal remains were found in a sugarcane field in Hacienda Valing, Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia, Negros Occidental on Monday, July 8.

Police Capt. Rodney Sarona, deputy chief of the Murcia Municipal Police Station, said that a 55-year-old farmer was plowing the field when he discovered the skeletal remains. 

Police have difficulty identifying the remains since nobody has claimed them.

Sarona said that they are checking nearby areas for missing individuals. 

He said that a deoxyribonucleic acid examination would enable them to identify the remains. 

Police have buried the skeletal remains in the municipal cemetery as nobody has claimed them.
