BACOLOD CITY – Murder charges were filed on Tuesday, July 9, against a 26-year-old man for allegedly killing the 44-year-old live-in partner of his mother in Barangay Puso, La Castellana, Negros Occidental on Sunday, July 7.

Police Major Rhojn Darell Nigos, La Castellana police chief, said the victim, a truck driver, was sitting on a chair with his friend outside a store when the suspect arrived.
The suspect confronted the victim and shot him. The victim sustained multiple bullet wounds and was declared dead in a hospital.
The suspect was arrested and recovered from the crime scene were a magazine with two live ammunition and seven spent caliber .45 cartridge cases.
Nigos said they are looking into grudges related to a family affair as motive in the incident.
Police said the suspect was angry because of his mother’s affair with the victim, less than a year after his father died.
Police withheld the names of the victim and the suspect.
