Multiple dreams came true for middle blocker Lorraine Pecaña after being selected in the first round of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft Monday night, July 8, at the Novotel in Cubao.
Not only was she chosen 11th by Choco Mucho, a squad known for its talent and large fan base, but she was also given a chance to play alongside her idols in fellow middle blockers Maddie Madayag and Cherry Nunag.
“Sila po talaga yung mga tinitingala kong middle blockers at iniidolo since nag-start akong mag-volleyball,” said Pecaña moments after her selection.
“Sila yung pinapangarap kong maka-team o makalaban. Kaya sobrang happy po ako sa tiwalang ibinigay sa akin ng Choco Mucho,” she added.
The only NCAA player drafted in the first round, the Arellano University standout is also looking forward to playing for one of the respected coaches in the league in Dante Alinsunurin.
“Gusto ko po yung kung paano niya bigyan ng chance yung mga players niya, kaya hindi ko po sasayangin itong opportunity na ito,” Pecaña said.
Pecaña is expected to get some playing time when the Reinforced Conference fires off next week as Nunag, along with Sisi Rondina, will miss a few games due to national team duties.
