Angge Alcantara will be put to test early in the Premier Volleyball League after PLDT High Speed Hitters’ resident setter Rhea Dimaculangan decided to sit out in the upcoming Reinforced Conference.

The team announced Dimaculangan’s status on social media on Wednesday, July 10, saying that the veteran player decided to take some time off to enjoy being a newlywed.
Dimaculangan’s absence in the upcoming conference is also the reason why PLDT selected Alcantara in the first round of the inaugural Rookie Draft last Monday, July 8.
“Si Rhea (Dimaculangan) kasi recently got married and is currently enjoying her time with her new husband and tayo naman sa PLDT, very supportive dyan,” said Ricafort in the social media post.
“At the same time, kailangan natin ng setter na makakasama ni Kim (Fajardo) kaya perfect na when it was our turn to pick, available pa si Angge (Alcantara),” he added.
Alcantara was already seen training with the High Speed Hitters a day after the draft, with a picture of her and Fajardo posted on the team’s social media.
“Moving forward, we will have three setters in our roster kaya hindi na tayo magwo-worry na baka kulangin tayo,” Ricafort said.
The High Speed Hitters seek for their first podium finish after placing as high as fourth twice in league history. They came in fifth in the previous All-Filipino Conference.
